Designing a new tube pedal update 1

Got the DC converter circuit board fabricated and populated. Testing it with the tube circuit connected.

Maestro PS-1A update 6

Here’s what it looks like with some graphics.

I’ve fixed one issue with the speed preset switch, it could sometimes skip one of the three speeds, jumping from slow to fast skipping medium. It now goes steady from slow (1Hz) -> medium (2Hz) -> fast (7Hz).

I’ve made the depth trimmer available from the bottom lid and added a trimmer for the fast speed as my client requested, adjustable 3- 7Hz.

So lets try to list what differs from the original.

  • I’ve used 2N5952 fets instead of the 2N4303.
  • It’s got a new input buffer suited for guitar.
  • It powerded by 9VDC.
  • Adjustable high speed.
  • The speed selector circuit, tap the switch and change the speed.

Designing a new tube pedal

Decided it was time to start working on a new tube pedal. Just sharing some picture of what’s to come.

Ampeg/Hagström Patch2000 service

This set of rare equipment arrived the other day for service. I’m told it will not interact with a synteziser.

Here’s a picture of the Ampeg pedal hooked up for testing and calibration.

I could not find anything wrong with the Ampeg pedal, though it did need a new calibration. The old electrolytic capacitors will also be replaced.

Maestro PS-1A project update 4

Got the pedal up and running. Doing some tweaking to the circuit calibrating the trimmers. Sounds good! I’ll try to get some soundclips up.

Boss DS-1 OD mod

Turning the Boss DS-1 into something more of an overdrive, giving it a more dynamic response. Changes are made to the transistor booster stage, OP-amp gain stage and the overall frequency respons. Check Thomas Ziden as he gives an somewhat unusual pedal demo.

Maestro PS-1A project update 2

Had the circuit board fabricated for the PSU and the presets controller populated.

Maestro PS-1A project update

This project got forgotten for many reasons, earlier posts can be found here and here. Had a look at the project files for the schematic and the layout. I had some changes made to the schematic, mostly around the PSU and the speed presets. I’ve decided to go for a single stompswitch to navigate through the three speeds in the LFO.

A picture of the layout Im gonna go with.
